BREAKING GROUND SUMMER 2022
The Waterfront District will be breaking ground summer 2022 for a new fitness center with a rock climbing gym. The new fitness space will be operated by Central Rock Gym (CRG), a leader in the indoor rock climbing industry with 19 existing or upcoming locations across New England and New York. First Columbia has announced plans to construct a nearly 20,000-square-foot indoor rock climbing, fitness and yoga facility at 545 River St. in Troy’s North Central neighborhood.
Central Rock Gym – Troy will feature high-bay indoor rock climbing on 45’ high walls as well as bouldering space, along with cardio machines, a weight room and a yoga studio. The fast-growing sport is now an Olympic event, and this new facility is being designed to host competitions. Pre-sale of membership soon at a discounted rate of $79/month for one year. "CRG is excited to provide world class climbing facilities for the Capital Region and be a part of the downtown Troy scene.” Peacher said the terrain will feature 250 linear feet of bouldering and 45-foot-tall rope walls, that vary from steep overhangs to delicate slab climbs. There will be climbing-specific training stations with hang boards, campus boards, and several other complimentary cross training exercise stations.
