Slidin’ Dirty reopens today in Hedley building in Troy

TROY — The restaurant Slidin’ Dirty reopens Monday at 433 River St., taking over the first floor of Hedley Park Place, which previously was River Street Market. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday to Thursday, until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The menu will at first be limited to sandwiches, sides and the brand's eponymous sliders, with plans to expand fare in the future, including for weekend brunch, owner Tim Taney said in his reopening announcement.

The 11,000-square-foot space serves as a combination restaurant and music venue and features two bars — one where the former tenant The Fox and the Burn was located, the other for special events. The restaurant side of the business has seating for about 125, with the music venue able to hold approximately 400, Taney said, although he has yet to receive a final capacity from the city. The first ticketed live performances are not expected to be held until the end of January or early February, according to Taney. He hasn't finished building out the venue with a stage and other concert equipment.

Taney launched the brand as a food truck in 2012, opened Slidin’ Dirty as a restaurant on First Street in downtown Troy in 2014 and renamed it two years ago as a music-focused pub called Twisted Fiddler, which closed in October 2024 when its lease ended. Taney has said he was approached by Hedley Park Place owner First Columbia soon after Twisted Fiddler closed about repurposing what had been River Street Market, a multistall food court that opened in summer 2019 but had largely fizzled by summer 2024 as vendors left and were not replaced. Taney said he signed a three-year lease with renewal options.

“It feels good to be back in Troy, where our story started, and to connect again with the community that supported us from the beginning,” he said in his reopening announcement.

Slidin’ Dirty is now the largest club-style venue in the Collar City. Hangar on the Hudson, about half a mile north on River Street, can accommodate about 200 for shows. Taney said he also hopes to host national-level entertainers on an outdoor stage in an adjoining parking lot that previously was home to the Rockin’ on the River concert series.
